I have been knitting since I was a child, and I’ve been crocheting since I was a teenager.

My mother taught me to knit, as her mother taught her. I learned to crochet in high school, in a class called Textile Arts. Over the years, my enthusiasm has waxed and waned. I did some crochet in my early 20’s, but not a lot of knitting. I didn’t do much in my 30’s, but a little bit later when I had my kids.

One of them told me about a knitting club at their elementary school that needed helpers. That was the start of my latest obsession. I helped teach a couple of kids to knit, and all of a sudden I needed yarn, and to do more and more.

I got a job at a craft store, and I was spending all my paycheque on supplies. I was told about classes starting up at the store and if I was interested, I could take an online course to get certification. Sign me up! I completed instructor level 1 in both knit and crochet, so now I was able to teach at the store. I have also completed level 2 in crochet.

I love new patterns, and have too many to ever complete, but I enjoy teaching and both knitting and crocheting, and of course, buying yarn.
